Arthritis

Osteoarthritis is simply wear and tear of a joint. Our joints are made of two bones meeting where they have a lining of cartilage. Once the cartilage is worn then bone rubs on bone causing arthritis.

These changes can start to appear sooner in joints that re not well aligned or have excessive forces placed on them by foot function, shoes, and your activities.

Your Podiatrist will assess the joint and recommend strategies which can help reduce the wear and tear of the problem area.

Unfortunately the condition tends to be progressive so it is important to seek help early on.

There are different types of arthritis (e.g. Rheumatoid Arthritis) which can impact the foot and your Podiatrist can also help you with these.
