Corns and Callus

Callus is hard skin that is produced in response to pressure and friction. A corn is a very concentrated area of callus which builds up and is impacted into the skin, again this usually only occurs in an area of high pressure.

A Podiatrist can use sharp debridement and enucleation to remove hard skin and callus. Your podiatrist will also help you determine the cause of the abnormal forces on your skin and will recommend strategies to help you reduce this. The abnormal pressure is often caused by footwear and your foot function.
