Heel Pain (Plantar Fasciitis)

There can be many causes of heel pain but by far the most common is a condition called Plantar fasciitis.

This is a condition where the supporting piece of tissue in your foot's arch becomes overloaded, inflamed and painful.

There are often multiple factors which combine to cause the problem in the first place e.g. foot function, tight or weak muscles, footwear, activities and lifestyle. Often it is necessary to address all these areas to resolve the problem.

You Podiatrist will work with you to tailor an individual treatment plan which will help you resolve your problem as quickly as possible, this may involve the following and more:

  • Footwear
  • Stretches
  • Icing
  • Orthotics
  • Strapping
  • Exercises

Often patients have already tried some if not all of these treatment prior to coming to see us however if the treatments are not done in the right way and are appropriate for that individual then they may be less effective or not effective at all.
